On the southeastern shore and discover Finley Point Unit. Though smaller at 28 acres, it offers a day-use area with picnic tables, a swimming beach for a refreshing dip, and a boat launch for those eager to explore the lake’s splendor. While camping is not available within the park, nearby campgrounds offer options for overnight stays.
For panoramic views of the lake, visit Wayfarers Unit in Bigfork. This 67-acre park welcomes visitors with picnic areas, river rock swimming beach, a boat launch, and a campground with RV and tent sites. There is also a shared hike/bike site for non-motorized campers. The park is renowned for its scenic allure and provides several miles of hiking trails along with what may be the best sunset viewing in the valley from the rocky cliffs.
Embark on a boat ride to the Wild Horse Island Unit, the largest island in Flathead Lake, spanning approximately 2,164 acres. Keep an eye out for bighorn sheep, mule deer, bald eagles, and the iconic wild horses that lend the island its name. Explore the island on the designated hiking trails and pay extra attention to the Leave No Trace philosophy. Access to the Wild Horse Island Unit is available only by boat, enhancing the sense of adventure and seclusion.
West Shore Unit, south of Lakeside, provides a delightful , picnic areas, boat launch facilities, and ample fishing opportunities, and 33 campsites. Take in the stunning lake and mountain scenery, immersing yourself in the tranquil ambiance of the region.
