Sliters Park Maintenance

In fall 2023, the CFBB, partnered with Martel Construction address maintenance needs at Sliters Park including:

  • Repairing Stairs: Front and rear stairs of the Riverbend Stage
  • Enhancing Greenery: Trimming brush and trees throughout the park
  • Benches Makeover: Replacing worn-out boards on benches
  • Play Area Upgrade: Spreading fresh wood chips in play areas
  • Bear-Resistant Trash Solution: Installing concrete pads for future bear-resistant trash cans

Our Vice President, Megan Shoultz, along with board member Andrea Sliter Goudge, recently met with Chris Maestas from Flathead County Parks and Recreation to discuss the scope of this restoration efforts. We are grateful for Flathead County’s enthusiastic support, including the provision of wood chips for the project.

This collaborative effort was born when Martel Construction expressed interest in giving back to the community. Their hands-on approach and dedication to making a visible impact perfectly align with our values. Martel Construction  generously donated both time and much of the required materials.

Sliters Park, a county park with cultural significance, is the backdrop for the River Bend Concert Series and a beloved playground for local youth. The CFBB’s annual contribution of $3500 subsidizes the park’s lease, ensuring continued public access. Our foundation also employs a contractor to assist the county in maintaining public restrooms and keeping garbage cans regularly emptied.

As a non-profit organization devoted to enhancing Bigfork’s quality of life since the 1960s, the CFBB plays a crucial role in bridging funding gaps left by the absence of traditional municipal sources. With no ability to levy taxes, we rely on the generosity of foundations, individuals, businesses, and fundraising events to achieve our goals.

This project not only showcases the power of partnerships but also underscores our collective commitment to the well-being of Bigfork and its residents. The positive impact of this joint effort will undoubtedly resonate with anyone who frequents Sliters Park.
