Zero Waste Businesses: Making Them Work – Featuring Flathead Lake Brewing Co.

May 26, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Climate Smart Glacier Country is preparing to host its third webinar in the series “Beyond Recycling: Making Zero Waste Work.”   This session will feature two businesses based in Flathead County, Xanterra and Flathead Lake Brewing Company. Both businesses have successfully adopted sustainability practices, including waste reduction, into their daily operations.   Representatives from the businesses will give a firsthand account of how such practices are good for business and provide tips for other businesses interested in bringing sustainability into their everyday operations.

Xanterra, the operator of Glacier National Park lodges, restaurants, and transportation, is dedicated to reaching a balance between economic viability and ecological responsibility. They take an environmental approach to each aspect of their operations, not only because it is crucial for the longevity of their business, but it is their responsibility to future generations.  Xanterra has adopted similar sustainability practices for Yellowstone National Park, Grand Canyon National Park and other national parks where they manage properties.

Flathead Lake Brewing Co designed its building and operations to incorporate sustainability into their facility and their day-to-day operation. Their most notable efforts include the reuse of materials from an old bowling alley in Bigfork, using waste diversion tactics and adding technology for water savings and energy efficiency.

This webinar session, titled “Zero Waste Businesses: Making Them Work,” will take place Wednesday May 26th from 12:00 pm to 1:15 pm.   The webinar is free, but participants must register in advance. To sign up and for more information, visit the Climate Smart Glacier Country website.(https://climatesmartglaciercountry.org/)  This series is sponsored by the Whitefish Community Foundation.
