Science on Tap

Join us for Science on Tap, Thursday, May 2 at 6:30pm in the Cellar at the FLBC Pubhouse. Our speaker is Barry Hanson, Fisheries Biologist for the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. His talk will be “Tribal Restoration Efforts on Flathead Lake: Beaches to Bull Trout.” Please note: No food will be available downstairs in the Cellar, please come early and eat upstairs prior to the presentation. Barry Hansen has been a certified Fisheries Scientist since 1993.  He received a Bachelors of Science degree from Tulane University in New Orleans in 1974. From there he joined the Peace Corps in Africa, followed by aimless wandering before receiving a Masters of Science degree from University of Montana in 1988.  His work experience includes time with the US Forest Service, and Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks before starting with the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes in 1990. His work with the Tribes has primarily focused on Flathead Lake, and out of necessity has been driven by the threats to native species imposed by non-native predators and competitors Presentations start at 6:30 pm at the Flathead Lake Brewing Company. Brought to you by the Flathead Lakers, Flathead Lake Biological Station, and the Flathead Lake Brewing Co.
