Public Reading of the Declaration of Independence

July 8 @ 12:00 pm
public reading of the declaration of independence

Join the Bigfork community as we commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence with a public reading of the document that forever changed the course of history.

Although the Declaration was adopted on July 4, 1776, it was first read aloud to the public on July 8, 1776, when citizens gathered in Philadelphia to hear the words proclaiming the American colonies to be “Free and Independent States.” Two hundred and fifty years later, communities across the country continue this tradition of gathering to reflect on the principles of liberty, equality, and self-government.

Dax Van Fossen will present a public reading of the Declaration of Independence. The Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem will also be recited.

This event is free and open to the public. Please join us for this meaningful community observance.

This event is organized by community member Steve Armstrong.
