Forms in Fiber at BACC

March 12, 2021 @ 11:00 am - April 24, 2021 @ 5:00 pm

BACC opens the first exhibit of its 2021 season with Forms in Fiber: A celebration of collected artists exploring quilting, felting, woven and wearable art.

After a time filled with isolation, this exhibit brings focus to an art form that binds us not only to our history, but together in creativity and beauty.

Traditional use of fiber for creating functional objects has long been represented in the domestic arts. Within the boundaries of such form, artists have continued to experiment with creating work that pushes past the expectations into forms of expressions to adorn a home or the body.

Visitors to the exhibit will see traditional and art quilting, thread painting and felting techniques, painting on fabrics, hand spun fibers, weaving and more.  Paintings created out of wool roving or layers of threads epitomize textures in the animals portrayed. Synthetic fibers borrowed from the world of manufacturing, are colored, manipulated and distressed to simulate the natural world.

BACC has also partnered with local quilting guilds to have raffle tickets available for purchase for the various quilts made by their members.

“Due to issues with gathering during the pandemic, many quilt shows and other events have been canceled where guilds would have been able to share their beautiful work with the public. As a part of BACC’s dedication to serving our community, we wanted to give the guilds an opportunity to show their handiwork and the public the chance to win one of these beautiful quilts.” –Monique Kleinhans

Forms in Fiber will be on exhibit from March 12th until April 24th.
