From Lakeside\, MT we will travel to one of the Flathead Lake Biological Station’s (FLBS) lake monitoring sites for a research demonstration\, and FLBS researchers will provide an overview of Flathead Watershed ecology and our Flathead Monitoring Program. Food and beverages will be provided by Harbor Grille. \nLimited space is available on the tour boat\, so reservations are required. \nWHEN\nThursday\, July 21 from 4-6pm \nWHERE\nLakeside\, MT\, Flathead Harbor Marina \nPrice\n$60/person. Proceeds benefit the Bio Station.

DESCRIPTION:September 1-6\, 2022 \nSVC’s Montana Master Naturalist course offers skills to deepen understanding\, appreciation\, and stewardship of the natural world. During six days of experiential\, field-based education\, participants learn to identify species\, interpret behaviors\, and affirm ecological relationships. \nIn this course\, students will spend four days and three nights in the backcountry\, studying subalpine species such as whitebark pine\, Clark’s nutcracker\, pika\, and hoary marmots\, while exploring Western Montana’s Swan Mountains. This foundational\, applied knowledge not only enriches a sense of place\, but also builds the confidence\, attention\, and curiosity to respect and conserve diverse ecosystems. \nTUITION: $825 (INCLUDES MONTANA MASTER NATURALIST CERTIFICATION FEE)\nThis course can also be taken for college credit through the University of Montana. \n*Backcountry tents\, sleeping bags\, sleeping pads all included if needed. DESCRIPTION:BIGFORK Trap Release Workshop\n\n\nIn this 90-minute workshop you will have the opportunity to perform “hands on” practice releasing traps. Working with a large selection of traps and learning the skills and tools you need to be able to quickly release your dog in the event that they are caught. Trapping is conducted year-round\, in Montana and every dog owner should be aware of the regulations\, the skills to release and how to attend to any first aid emergencies. This 90-minute workshop will finish up with a basic “Trap Release Tool Kit” for every paid attendee and basic tips and first aid care for injuries sustained from traps. \nFee:  $ 25. \nHeld at 104 Crestview Drive\, Suite 206\, Bigfork.  Parking is available in the back and attendees can enter from the front or back of the building. DESCRIPTION:On Friday the 11th of November\, Bigfork High School’s National Honor Society and History Students will present the 22nd Annual Veterans Day Assembly.  This event begins at 10 a.m. in the Bigfork High School Gymnasium.  \nStudents will present facts on the historical significance of Veterans Day\, view an original video production from the BHS journalism class\, listen to poignant letters from soldiers\, honor Gold Star Mothers\, and recite meaningful poetry. The winner of the “Voice of Democracy” will read his/her essay\, and the Bigfork High School Band will be performing with the BHS cheerleaders serving as the color guard. \nThe program is streamed live and viewers can access this service through the school facebook account (Bigfork School District 38) the day of the event. \nAll veterans and the public are welcome\, and refreshments will be served afterwards for veterans and their guests.
