SUMMARY:Backcountry Master Naturalist
DESCRIPTION:September 1-6\, 2022 \nSVC’s Montana Master Naturalist course offers skills to deepen understanding\, appreciation\, and stewardship of the natural world. During six days of experiential\, field-based education\, participants learn to identify species\, interpret behaviors\, and affirm ecological relationships. \nIn this course\, students will spend four days and three nights in the backcountry\, studying subalpine species such as whitebark pine\, Clark’s nutcracker\, pika\, and hoary marmots\, while exploring Western Montana’s Swan Mountains. This foundational\, applied knowledge not only enriches a sense of place\, but also builds the confidence\, attention\, and curiosity to respect and conserve diverse ecosystems. \nTUITION: $825 (INCLUDES MONTANA MASTER NATURALIST CERTIFICATION FEE)\nThis course can also be taken for college credit through the University of Montana. \n*Backcountry tents\, sleeping bags\, sleeping pads all included if needed. All group gear (water filters\, cookware\, stove\, etc) provided. \nLIMITED TO 10 PARTICIPANTS.\nMUST BE ABLE TO HIKE 7 MILES WITH A 30-40 LB PACK.

DESCRIPTION:The 9/11 Honor and Serve Foundation will host a Memorial Event as we remember September 11\, 2001\, terror attacks that took the lives of 2\,977 men\, women and children in New York City\, Arlington\, Va. and near Shanksville\, Pa. This year will also mark the 10-year anniversary of the Terrorist Attacks in Benghazi\, Libya on September 11\, 2012\, which took the lives of our U.S. Ambassador\, his information officer and two U.S. Navy Seals. Years after the attacks that changed our world forever\, we will gather to honor those who lost their lives as well as the many heroes who emerged during these tragic events. \nThere will be hosted refreshments and social immediately following the ceremony. At the conclusion of the social we will be showing the movie “13 Hours the Secret Soldiers of Benghazi.” Please feel free to bring yourselves a low-back chair and/or a blanket. As always\, refreshments (soft drinks and popcorn) will be provided.
