Fourth Annual/First Annual (in Bigfork) Poker Paddle – August 12, 2018
The Bigfork Area Chamber of Commerce and the Flathead Lakers have teamed to paddle for clean water. The Flathead Lakers have hosted the annual event Poker Paddle near the narrows of Polson on Flathead Lake for the last three years. The event is a poker run, open to all non-motorized participants.
These are primarily kayaks and stand up paddles boards, but there has been the occasional swimmer. The course consists of a two, five and, for the first-time last year, a seven-mile course with participants picking up poker cards along the way in hopes of making the best hand. The poker run begins at noon, with additional festivities for participants and spectators alike starting at 2:00. Activities include music, lunch and a silent auction.
Music and food will be at Brookside Yard afterwards. The event is limited to the first 150 participants. Both groups are looking forward to growing the event in the future.
Volunteers are needed in the month’s leading up to the event to collect silent auction items from around the valley and solicit corporate sponsorships. Day of volunteers are needed to assist in parking, directing traffic and participants and cleaning up post festivities. Those interested in assisting with donations and sponsorships should contact the Bigfork Chamber at email@example.com; day of volunteers can contact Hilary Devlin with the Flathead Lakers. Donations towards to event are also being accepted by both groups.
This year’s event is sponsored in part by Toyota and Glacier Bank.
