Bigfork ACES After School Program & Summer Camps is seeking junior camp counselors to join our team for the 2022 summer! Part-time and Full-time positions available, M-F, no weekends or evenings.

Junior Camp Counselors will report to the senior camp counselor and upper management in charge. A junior camp counselor’s main role is to assist the counselors in leading groups and providing fun and safe experiences for children. The Junior Counselor will help the campers acquire a feeling of high self-esteem, self-worth and competence in an outdoor setting through teachings and activities. Junior Counselors must have a high sense of responsibility, conduct themselves maturely and follow all program procedures.

Junior Camp Counselor Responsibilities:
– Assist in supervision of campers and see all daily activities through
– Assist in the development and execution of appropriate lesson plans for campers that utilizes but is not limited to the following areas: nature, values, hiking, storytelling, games/activities, cooking and youth sports/fitness programs.
– Help maintain responsibility of campers at all times.
– Provide leadership and role modeling for other teens, staff and children.
– Use corrective steps to help prevent and eliminate discipline problems.
– Be aware of all safety hazards. Be aware of the location of each camper at all times.
– Ensure safety and cleanliness of program area and building.
– Inform proper staff of equipment needs including first aid.
– Assist with pre/post camp duties.
– Provide excellent service to members and participants.
– Perform other related duties as required.

Junior Camp Counselor Requirements
– Must be at least 18 years or older.
– Attending high school currently or hold a high school diploma.
– Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
– Previous experience in child care or related experience is preferred.
– Previous experience with summer camps or interaction with large groups of children is preferred but not necessary.
– Ability to work as a team is a must. Outgoing and energetic personality. Being an positive role model is a must.
– Must be available to work Mondays – Fridays.
– Must be available for training June 13th – 17th.
– Must also be available for all camps, June 20th -August 19th. With the week of July 4th off.
