COOK SUMMARY

 

The Assistant Cook prepares and serves nutritious, attractive meals, and maintains cleanliness of the food production and service areas.

 

COOK QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Must be able to read, write, and understand English
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally
  • Must be able to skillfully prepare and serve a wide range of foods
  • Must have working knowledge of the rules and regulations related to health and safety in food preparation
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 30 lbs., to occasionally lift more than 50 lbs., and to spend long periods of time standing
  • Must work well with others
  • Demonstrate dependability and tact
  • Good character and a continuing reputation of personal integrity
  • Possess and maintain good physical and mental health, including current TB testing
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school degree or equivalent GED
  • Must have prior successful employment as a cook, with a preference for two or more years of experience cooking for groups
  • Prefer experience in preparing special diets, including but not limited to low sodium, low cholesterol, diabetic, gluten-free, and vegetarian meals
  • Have U.S. citizenship or evidence of valid Alien Work Permit
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and none of the following in the last 2 years, if driving a company vehicle:
    • Reckless driving ticket
    • An accident where employee was at fault
    • DUI

KITCHEN ASSISTANT QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Must be able to read, write, and understand English
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally
  • Must have the working knowledge of the rules and regulations related to health and safety in the dining room.  Ability to regularly lift up to 30 lbs, to occasionally lift more than 40 lbs, and spend long periods of time standing.
  • Must work well with others, demonstrate dependability and tact.
